1. INT. TEACHER’S OFFICE. DAY
Various shots appear on the screen. The shots are of Facebook wall posts and YouTube links. One wall post states to a bully “Bloody funny what ya did to that idiot Darcy. Little shit deserved what he got...”. A YouTube link posted by one of the bullies states ‘Watch me wreck this kid at school today... wanker.”
Darcy, the main Character stares at the computer screen. A look of disgust, yet sadness cover his face.
The shot fades to black.
The shot fades to black.
The scene is still a blank black screen. There is a knock at a teachers office. The door creaks open and Darcy walks in. One of his teachers are sitting at their desk.
The film title fades onto the black background.
DARCY (V/O)
Excuse Me, Mister. Can
I please talk to you ?
TEACHER #1 (V/O)
No Darce, I don’t
have any time right now.
I’ve got yard duty, come back
later.
DARCY (V/O)
(sighs)
Ok Mister.
2. EXT. SEATING AREA/SCHOOL YARD. DAY.
Darcy’s sitting at a wooden bench. He’s slowly eating his sandwich, made by his mum, dressed neatly in his ironed grey pants, white shirt and straight tie. He sits there innocently, when the camera un-focuses on Darcy, and brings into focus 3 of Darcy’s classmates. These classmates are the one’s that constantly bully Darcy, and always make him sad and feel bad for excelling in his classes. One of the Bully’s whispers to his mates, all dressed in grey pants, creased shirts and no tie, and walks over to Darcy.
BULLY #1
What are you lookin’ at?
Darcy hesitates to look at the group of bullies, but gives them a slight glance.
BULLY #1
(walking towards Darcy)
I said what are you
looking at ?
Darcy looks towards the bully, who is standing over him.
DARCY
(stuttering)
N n n n nothing.
The Bully smiles, and grabs Darcy by the hair, pulling him up towards the Bully’s face.
BULLY #1
That’s what I thought.
The Bully then pushes Darcy onto the brick wall, and Darcy falls to the ground. The Bully walks towards his friends, and laughs it off. They all laugh at Darcy. A tear falls from Darcy’s eyes.
3. INT. FOOTPATH. DUSK.
Darcy walks along a footpath. He picks his phone from out of his pocket, and calls his Mum. He places the phone to his ear, and starts talking.
DARCY
Hi Mum, yeah I’m good.
Yeah school was alright,
i’m just feeling pretty tired
though. I might just go to
bed when I get home.
How’s the business trip goin ?
Hi Mum, yeah I’m good.
Yeah school was alright,
i’m just feeling pretty tired
though. I might just go to
bed when I get home.
How’s the business trip goin ?
There is a brief pause between Darcy and his Mum’s sentences.
DARCY
Ah that’s alright.
Sounds good. Hope you’re
enjoying yourself.
Anyway’s I’m gonna go,
I’m nearly home anyways.
I’ll talk to you later.
Bye Mum, love you too.
Ah that’s alright.
Sounds good. Hope you’re
enjoying yourself.
Anyway’s I’m gonna go,
I’m nearly home anyways.
I’ll talk to you later.
Bye Mum, love you too.
Darcy hangs up the phone and walks up his driveway. He opens the front door, and stands inside the hallway, and stares down in the darkness of the house. He is all alone. Physically and mentally. He crawls into bed, and sheds a tear whilst laying his head on the pillow.
4. INT. OFFICE. DAY.
Mr. Slater sits at his office desk on his computer. Darcy knocks on the office door, and walks in.
DARCY
Hi, Mr. Slater.
Do you mind if
I could talk to
you for a minute?
Mr. Slater looks towards Darcy, and smiles invitingly.
MR. SLATER
Yeah, no problem
Yeah, no problem
Mate. What’s wrong?
Darcy pulls up a chair beside Mr. Slater’s desk, and sits down.
DARCY
Well, there’s some bullies
at school. They’re always
threatening me, and looking
at me funny. They call me names
and bag me for always doing my work
in class. I was wondering
if you could talk to them or something?
MR.SLATER
Yeah no problem, Darcy.
What’s their names?
Darcy insecurely looks over his shoulder.
DARCY
Well, I don’t
really want to
name names. But it’s
the group that hangs
around the canteen.
MR. SLATER
Ah, I know the ones.
I’ll go talk to them
during lunch.
Darcy smiles. Hope is now present for Darcy.
5. EXT. SCHOOLYARD/CANTEEN. DAY.
Mr. Slater walks out of his office doors towards the Canteen. The young group of bullies are sitting on the railing of the canteen line, laughing loudly, and pointing at people in the schoolyard. Mr. Slater confronts the young bullies.
MR. SLATER
Excuse me boys.
Just a quick chat,
you know Darcy, yeah?
The bullies look at each other and laugh. The bully replies.
BULLY #1
Yeah that bloody Nerd.
MR. SLATER
C’mon mate, no
need for that.
Listen, just stop
it alright? No need
to bag him.
The bullies again laugh, and look at each other smiling. Mr. Slater begins to get irritated, and annoyed at their lack of
sympathy for Darcy.
MR. SLATER
(angrily)
(angrily)
You think this is a
fuckin’ joke?
This poor kid is
sick of coming
to school cause
of youse.
One more time,
and you’ll be dealt
with by Me and the
Principal, alright?
The Bullies faces turn serious after the teacher threatens
them. Mr. Slater walks away from the bullies, with an angry look on his face, but a sense of accomplishment.
6. INT. CLASSROOM. DAY.
Darcy sits in an empty classroom, silently doing his homework. As Darcy sits there, the group of bullies watch him through the window. Darcy glances over, but ignores it. The Bullies then start to wave their hands, and attempt to catch Darcy’s attention. Darcy looks over, and one of the bullies raises his finger to his neck, imitating cutting someone’s throat. This is a direct threat to Darcy. Darcy’s face shows that he has become scared, he scuffles some papers together and continues to do his homework. Scared, he sits there with his pen in his hand, shaking. Fearful, he looks over to the window. The bullies have left. Darcy lets out a sigh of relief, but still continuously shakes.
7. INT. PRINCIPALS OFFICE. DAY.
The Principal (Mr. Cassel) walks down the office hallway, towards his office. Mr. Cassel walks into his office and Mr. Slater is sitting at the desk.. Mr. Cassel sits down at the desk, while talking.
MR. CASSEL
Mr. Slater, how
can I help you ?
Mr. Slater responds.
MR. SLATER
C’mon Dave, let’s
cut the crap. You know
of the bullying situation.
We’ve gotta do something
about it now. These kids
are going too far.
They’ve got no respect
for any other students
anymore. They threatened
Darcy. We’ve got to
do something.
Mr. Cassel swings back on his chair and lets out a sigh of exasperation. He’s heard all of this before.
MR. CASSEL
Listen Mike. What else
can we do to stop this ?
Take Darcy out of his classes?
No. The kids will just
keep bullying him at lunch.
There’s nothing else we can do
other than what we are doing
now. Just keeping a good
eye on Darcy is the only way.
Just keep telling the
bullies off. They’ll stop soon.
Mr. Slater rolls his eyes.
MR. SLATER
Well that’s bloody
perfect isn’t it ?
Just ignore the situation
and it’ll go away.
Real mature Dave.
His mum, Carol’s worried sick
about Darcy !
You know what ?
Don’t even bother anymore.
If you can’t take action
For it, then I will.
Mr. Slater storms out of the Office, angry and fuming.
8. EXT. BOULEVARD. DAY.
Darcy walks down the boulevard towards home, casually minding his business with his bag on his shoulders. He notices the bully’s walking towards him. He minds his own business, and looks down towards the ground while walking in between the bullies. One of them knocks Darcy with his shoulder. The Bully whips around and looks Darcy in the eyes, only inches away from his face.
BULLY #2
What the fuck was
that for Darcy ?
Darcy has a scared and sad expression on his face.
DARCY
(stuttering)
Ww ww what was what for?
The Bully laughs.
BULLY #2
You just knocked me.
You got some bloody
nerve on ya Darcy.
Without thinking, Darcy runs as fast as he can. He runs past a building, into a little lane. The bullies chase him. Darcy stands up against a brick wall, hoping that the bullies don’t see him. He breathes a sigh of relief that he has gotten away from them. Suddenly, the bullies enter the lane. They grab Darcy by the scruff of his neck. Darcy’s bag falls to the ground. The camera angle changes to the ground, focusing on the bag, whilst Darcy screams for help, and the constant sound of punching is repeated.
9. INT. OFFICE. DAY.
Mr. Slater holds the phone up to his ear abruptly. A look of sadness, yet anger is on his face.
MR. SLATER
What ? Carol, please,
stop crying. They bashed him ?
Don’t worry it’ll be alright.
I’ll find them heartless
Bastards.
Mr. Slater picks up his jacket from his chair, and runs out of his office towards his car.
10. INT. BATHROOM. DAY.
Darcy stands in front of his bathroom mirror. He stares into the mirror, staring at the bruises underneath his eyes, and the dried blood that had dripped from his bottom lip. He stares himself straight into the eyes.
DARCY
Look at you.
What have you become?
A tear falls from Darcy’s eye.
Darcy storms into his room, and picks up his schoolbag, violently pulling out his books from the bag, and ripping them, throwing the torn pieces of exercise books into the air.
He then breaks down, and falls to the floor, sobbing.
The Scene cuts to Darcy walking in his garage. He picks up a rope from the tool bench. The camera follows his footsteps, until he stops. The scene then cuts to the rope being thrown over a beam in his pergola. It then quickly cuts to his hands, creating a noose in the rope. He tightens it. The camera follows Darcy’s feet stepping up onto a stool. The camera then quickly cuts to the rope connected to the beam.
Fade to white. Soft piano music starts to play.
11. EXT. CAR. DAY.
Mr. Slater sits in his car, about to drive off to find the bullies. His phone rings, and the caller I.D shows “Carol”.
The camera cuts to the outside of the car, in front of Mr. Slater. Mr. Slater picks up the phone, and after a few seconds, he breaks down, slamming the steering wheel, sobbing.
12. INT. OFFICE/S. DAY.
While the piano tune plays, the camera cuts to various shots of Mr. Cassel sitting at his desk, with welled up eyes, staring into the distance.
Darcy’s mum sits at her dinner table, with bloodshot crying eyes, also just staring.
The next shot is of the Bullies standing around the entrance of a shopping centre. Two men in Suits (Policeman) approach the boys, they pull out a badge. All the bullies run away, with the police following them.
The final shot is again of Mr. Slater in his car, staring directly into the distance. Another tear falls from his eyes.
Fade to Black.
CREDITS.
Darcy Character Outline - Media Film
Darcy is an average 14 year old boy. He’s in Year 10, is fit, enjoys spending time with his family, but he doesn’t have any friends. This is shown by him sitting by himself in class, doing his work by himself. During class he is always being taunted and bullied for being an A grade student, and always excels in his studies. But all of his classmates don’t praise him for it, they call him names and bully him for being so academic.
Final Movie Poster
I wanted the final design of the movie poster to be mysterious towards the film and simple, whilst giving a statement as to what the audience will witness during the movie.

Reflection
Radio Ad;
My radio advertisement will be advertised during the time period of 4-6, a time when the ratings of Radio is at its highest due to the drive home slot. The advertisement targets people aged 16-22, due to its younger voices and younger culture. The timing of this advertisement is at its peak, and will be heard by many people who listen to Fox (as outlined in the Persona of ‘Luke’).
Image Advertisement;
The image of “Big M” is shown in the magazine, “Surf Life”, a magazine all about surfing and beach culture. The background image of my advertisement depicts Torquay beach, with surfers and beach reveller in the background. This appeals to the demographics personality and qualities, which will draw their attention to the advertisement. The beach scene contrasts well with the white text and the big image of the “Big M” carton, and this again draws the audience’s attention to the advertisement, which will ultimately spark their interest in purchasing a Big M, that “Quenches Surfer’s thirsts”. The Instructional piece at the bottom of the advertisement also depicts a scene for the audience, which outlines the feelings that they may feel after finishing a Surf. This instructional piece helps to set a scene for the audience for which they can relate to, and ultimately then urge them to buy a Big M.
Big M -Instructional Piece for Advertisment
You walk out of the Surf with your board in hand. The summer sun gleams on your face. You walk towards your car with your mates, soaking up the summer weather. Your mate throws you an ice cold Big M from the esky. You crack open the carton, and gulp it down.
